Privacy policy
Updated: October 21, 2026
Monuvia is an app for managing your budget. This policy explains, in plain terms, what data we handle, where it is stored, and what does (or does not) leave your device. If something doesn’t sit right, write to us.
What data we store
Your account: your email and an encrypted password. No name, phone, or ID documents.
What you log: income, bills, expenses, categories, installment purchases, money owed to you (the names of the people who owe you, the amounts, and the collection dates), and your savings goal. You enter it yourself; Monuvia doesn’t notify or share anything with the people you name, and it does not connect to your bank.
To make the app work: your settings (currency, language, time zone) and, if you enable notifications, your device’s push subscription.
Optional: the approximate location of a payment, only if you turn it on. The biometric lock (Face ID/fingerprint) happens on your device and never reaches our servers.
Where it is stored
Your data is stored in our database (Supabase) and the site is served from Vercel. It travels encrypted over HTTPS.
Each account only sees and changes its own data (or that of the household it has joined), thanks to per-user access rules in the database.
What runs on your device
When you photograph a receipt, the text recognition (OCR) runs inside your browser: the image never leaves your phone, only the text is used.
Your available-this-week figure is a formula that runs in your database, not a prediction or an external service.
AI features (you turn them on)
The assistant (text and voice), automatic payment categorization, the weekly coach, and the “will I make it to month-end?” projection use an OpenAI model. They are OFF by default; they only work if you turn them on in Settings.
When you use them, we send OpenAI a summary of your finances for the period (totals, spend by category, upcoming payments, and money due to you, including the names and reasons you typed into your money-owed accounts) to write the answer. We do not send your full history, your email, or your identity. For the voice assistant, the audio of your question is transcribed and the answer is turned into speech with OpenAI.
OpenAI processes that data to give us the answer and, under its business terms, does not use it to train its models. You can turn the AI off whenever you want; when you do, we stop sending anything.
Automatic payment capture
If you set it up, it is your own phone (an Apple Shortcut or an Android automation) that sends us the amount and merchant of a contactless payment. Monuvia never connects to your bank, and access uses a token you can revoke.
Notifications
If you grant permission, we send reminders for bills, income, and money owed to you by push notification. We use your device’s subscription only for that; you can remove the permission anytime. Account emails (confirmation, recovery) are sent with Resend.
Who we share with
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. It is only handled by the providers that run Monuvia: Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting), Resend (account emails), and OpenAI (only if you enable the AI features).
Your rights
You can export your data (PDF and Excel) from the app, and edit or delete anything you log. If you want to delete your account and all your data, write to us and we will do it.
Minors and changes
Monuvia is not directed to children under 13. If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for an important change, let you know in the app.
